BT launches broadband speed-up gismo

BT wholesale plans to release a new device which it claims can help speed up home broadband by reducing outside electrical interferance.

BT suggests that household appliances such as TV’s, set-top boxes, lamps, fairy lights and other commonplace electrical equipment can interfere with ADSL broadband connections and slow them down. As a solution BT will offer a new gismo called an Interstitial Plate or iPlate - which can help reduce this phenomenon when placed in the master telephone socket.

You can compare ADSL broadband speeds and try to choose a fast connection from the outset, but the iPlate is good news for ADSL users who are already in a contract. The iPlate only costs a tenner so it could be a really neat solution for customers who are dissatisfied with their broadband connection speed.
