Everyone wants a bail-out
It seems like everyone is asking for a bail-out these days. Apparently, it’s the hot, new thing to do. Things are no different in the commercial real estate markets. There is no question that there are companies that are really hurting right now, but it is getting difficult to tell who is in immediate trouble and who is taking advantage of the situation. Retailers are all whining to their landlords for reduced rent because they know the landlords are scared enough to possibly give in to the request. I think it’s time to let those that can’t stay in business on their own fail. Propping up these companies is just delaying the inevitable and doesn’t solve the underlying problem…they are bad at business.
