My grandmothers metal bottle tree
We used to sit around the fire with my grandma as she told us of the legends of the south folklore. She often told us of all the interesting things people did to ward off evil spirits and to bring luck and prosperity to their homes. She would tell us how frogs held a certain magic when displayed all over the home in ornaments and were said to bring prosperity and money into the home when pointed at the door. She had this metal bottle tree that really captivated our attention and told us this was an old custom used to ward off evil spirits. She said that this particular tree was just decoration but that people used to hang bottles over trees for protection.
