My Learning How To Knit Story
You might think that there is a stereotype of the typical knitting enthusiast. It would probably be a female over 40, a stay at home mom with kids in school. And that stereotype would probably be pretty accurate. But there are exceptions to every stereotype. Here’s my story. First of all, I’m a male. I first picked up a knitting needle and a ball of yarn when I was about 10 years old. My mother was a big knitter back then and one day I decided to ask her if she would teach me to knit. She happily agreed and my learning how to knit story began.
She started with some very basic knitting instructions and gave me knitting "homework" which I diligently followed. The more I got involved with my knitting craft the more I liked it. Now, at age 10 you don’t go around telling your friends that you’re knitting. But I was and I enjoyed it.
I kept knitting steadily for about a year before I got involved with other 10 year old activities. I eventually put the knitting craft on hold and haven’t returned to it for several years. But I fully expect that sometime on the not too distant future I will once again pick up the needles and yarn and learn to knit all over again.
