How Is Prostrate Cancer Treated?

Asking how is prostrate cancer treated is a bit like asking how long a piece of string is as there are a wide variety of different treatments which can be used to treat the disease in its various different stages. In general however, as long as the cancer is localized to the prostate gland, the first options would be to simply monitor the condition and not to treat it at all as long as it remains localized, is slow growing and is giving you little if any trouble. Once the cancer begins to grow at a reasonable rate and spread becomes a potential problem the most commonly used form of treatment is radiation therapy to kill the cancer cells or the complete removal of the prostate gland.
