The pros and cons of Conference Meetings

I have been involved in a number of meetings that were held via conference call and I’ve seen the good, the bad and the hilarious. One time this guy kept coughing and it was really loud. Finally someone suggested he might want to use the mute button. If people are going to use conference calling then they should think, prepare, and learn, so they can do it right. Another funny thing is how some people have side conversations with folks in their room but don’t realize everyone else can hear it and they don’t know if the person is talking to them or to whoever. Always use someone’s name if asking a particular individual a question. Such as "Mary did you see the month end numbers?" Then everyone knows who the question is directed to. Any of these tips are just common sense, but it seems to be uncommon when using conferencing.
