I didn’t go to college until I was thirty-four years old. I had already been married and divorced, and I had two children. I had paid my house payment and credit card bills late on several occassions. I had no choice. I was working a dead-end job, and my husband was behind in his child support payments, so it was hard to make ends meet. I qualified for some grants, and I got federal student loans, but it still wasn’t enough to cover my tuition and other college-related expenses. I got several bad credit alternative student loans during my years in college.
